Modern Orders Of Battle
I'd like to see what scenarios and campaigns interest everyone.
We have begun to play one of the classic modern "what if" campaigns: Fulda Gap, 1985

Division Recon Leaving Bad Hersfeld, Hinds in over-watch.
We began with the 27th Guards Motor Rifle Division getting the mission to open a corridor to the open terrain northeast of Frankfurt via Bad Hersfeld and Alsfeld. Once this corridor is open, the 79th Guards Tank Division can exploit, perhaps as far as Frankfurt.
Delaying these units of the 8th Guards Army is the 3rd Squadron to the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment. Other NATO units begin assembling/arriving as the delaying action proceeds. The release of these units are triggered by Soviet gains. The condition and completeness of the NATO units increases with the amount of time that has passes before the triggering events occur.
Much of the scenario was developed using the excellent Modern Battles simulations by John Tiller and HPS. Running the campaign several times allowed for the scheduling of the release of the NATO forces and the availability of supporting aircraft. HPS also publish a series of WW2 simulations called Panzer Campaigns.
We will post photos and reports of the battles of this campaign as they occur.
The order of battle for this campaign are attached below:

I'm working on a campaign called "The Battle for Australia". It's basically an invasion of Australia in about 2010-2012 by a fictional enemy called "The Republic of Red" (The Reds), who are basically a WARPAC style enemy with some tweaks. The invading force will be a Red Expeditionary Army of three divisions (one Tank, two Motor Rifle)plus some supporting assets against the Australian forces, plus whatever allies we can rope in. (As I build up my miniatures collection, I'm hoping to have some US, British and Canadians (our "ABCA" allies) send some assistance, which allows me to field M1 & M2, Challenger & Warrior, and some Leopard 2s).
The rules and TO&E are well progressed. I have all the TO&E for the forces, campaign rules and background, and some "programmed" order and reaction options for Red for solo play if required.

Bish,
Will The Republic of Red be more Soviet (sorry Russian) or PRC?
Jon
Jon,
It's pretty heavily based in Soviet organisations and doctrine. Although my background has them becoming more closely aligned politically and militarily with the PRC following the decline of the USSR. So if O8 ever release any Chinese equipment, I can see the Republic of Red buying some gear off them to modernise their forces(Type 90's, Tpe 98s etc), which would conveniently give me a bit of gaming variety : )

With the release of the T10M we are able to field one of the more powerful early cold war units. The Soviet Heavy Tank Divisions. There were at least two in Germany, the 13th and 25th Guards Tank Divisions. Each had two regiments of T10M or IS3 and a regiment of medium tanks. This would of meant six battalions of heavies, three of medium and three of infantry. On a typical battlefield after the artillery had a chance to open things up this division would of advance across a front of 4KM. in typical platoon based gaming this is about four feet of table space.
What would oppose this formation? In the late 50s it would have been the American Pentomic army. Possibly one of the armored cavalry formations.
The Americans will have:
3 Recon Troops each with 1 x M48A3, 1 x M59 (I use the M113) w/Infantry stand, 2 x Recon Jeeps and 1 x M59 w 4.2 mortar. There will also be an armor troop of 2 x M48A3 and a SP 105 off board.
Reinforcements would include elements of a Combat Command.
The Soviets have:
Lots of off board artillery
2 Heavy Regiment each with, 3 Heavy Battalions each with 6 T10MM, 1 Recon Company 2 x BTR 40 or 2 BRDM, 1 Rifle Battalion 8 Infantry Stands 1 Mortar Stand in BTR152s or BTR50s, Artillery
1 Medium Regiment with 3 Medium Battalion each with 6 T54/55
1 Recon Company 2 x BTR 40 or 2 BRDM
1 Rifle Battalion with 8 Infantry Stands 1 Mortar Stand in BTR152s or BTR50s
Artillery
Recon Battalion with 3 Companies each with 1 BTR40 and 1 BTR152, or 2 BRDM.
I will give an after action report once we get through the first battle.
Sounds like a neat idea for a campaign jon, a nice departure from the standard mid-80's game. What year is this based on? What is the West German (if any) participation?
Late 50s. After 1960-62 the US changes their TOE to the ROAD OB. I am playing around with the 1950s Pentomic Army (As we all remember in the bad sci-fi movies).
I still need to research the West Germans. My guess is mostly M47/48s. Once we have the M47 or earlt 48s I ll look more closly at West Germany and France.
That is a hint John....
