First 3mm Terrain Product

Here's some photos of our first PicoTerrain product.

These are our tree stands. There are ten evergreen trees mounted in on a 50mm square stand.
The stand is finished with a textured surface, and flocked.

This is a close-up with two BMP3s and a UAZ-469.

The taller trees are about 3/4 inch (20mm) tall, the smallest about 3/8 inch (10mm) tall.

We are planning to offer these as assembled stands, and as kits with the stands drilled and the trees ready to mount.

There has also been a request for the trees supplied alone. What are your thoughts?

Our initial pricing will be:
$3.00 per assembled stand, 10 stands for $25.00
$2.50 per stand kit, 10 stand kits for $20.00
All prices in USD, delivery extra.

We will work on a tree only price, should there be sufficient interest.

I wonder, if your range of terrain takes off and is successful (and much luck with it) will you be considering looking for a distributor on this side of the Atlantic (in much the same way that Oddzial Osmy distributes through yourself in the US and Fighting 15s in the UK)?

I ask because I’m very keen to start collecting terrain made specifically for 1/600 gaming (including the loose trees with no base you mention on the blog) but rather less so on paying for postage from the US!

Cheers,

Stu.

Mr Stu,

We always strive to keep hobby budgets out of the hands of shipping companies, to the extent possible.

I would be interested in distribution, and I would continue to offer discounted shipping to Europe and the UK.

Thanks,

John

Great going John! Blog away...

I would like loose trees also... and palm trees!

I assume that they are some sort of metal tree 'trunk' so they could be stuck into foam terrain. So they might need to be a little longer for "planting".

Very nice John. Related to what Stu was saying can you carry the Irregular buildings or are you thinking of working on your own line?

Mr MMowen,
There's two votes for loose trees, and two votes for palm trees.

Mr Jon,
We're going to start by offering loose Monopoly style houses and hotels in 100 piece bags. Were are also going to offer Urban Stands in the style of the tree stands. We are aiming for 6-8 different configurations using those as the base units.

Finally we are going to continue working on sculpting original buildings, starting with the Middle East style. Our sculpter is currently deployed in Tikrit.

Middle eastern buildings is great. Command Decision's built-up areas, in this scale (centimeters) would be 4 cm x 4 cm. The actual buildings' configuration is unimportant. But for the desert, many of the built-up areas are tiny hamlets and would literally be just 1 cm x 1 cm.

Mr MMowen,

We are planning to offer two sizes to start. 4 cm square for CWC/BKC and SH/MSH, and 10cm square for CD-TOB.

CD-TOB also has a particular sector layout with the built up area, so we will offer a two layer product. One layer will feature the sector layout, and a second layer with the buildings/artwork.

Just so you know, the 2 most popular scales for CD-TOB is inches and centimeters. So a 4x4 built-up area would be either 4x4" or 4x4 cms. And I would think that most people doing 3mm scale would use the centimeter scale. Anyway, I am using centimeters.

Which makes my 4x6' game table 3.33x5 miles in size.

I also need to correct what I said re the smaller version of BUA's in CD-TOB, they can be either 2x2 or 1x1. I'll use 2x2 cms. You can see more at the CD Forum...

John,

I'd be interested in the individual trees if you offer them?
